Contact us by telephone: toll-free at 1-800-272-3900 or 703-359-4440. Helpline staff and volunteers listen 24 hours a day, 7 days week.

If you prefer to write us with your questions or concerns, please fill out a Helpline Online Form. Normally, we are able to reply to your online requests within three working days. If you need a faster response or do not receive a response in three working days, please telephone us.

Contact us if you need to talk and/or need information. Our staff and volunteers are trained to address a wide range of questions and concerns. Including information on:

  • Alzheimer's disease and related disorders, Diagnosis, progression, medications, current research, and clinical trials

  • Caregiving, Communication, driving, safety, dealing with difficult behaviors, personal care, activities, caregiver stress, agitation, sleep, legal issues, ethical issues, and literature

  • Chapter programs, Support groups, Safe Return, educational programs for caregivers, conferences, the Chapter library, professional training, public policy, and chapters across the United States and Internationally

  • Community Resources, Respite care, adult day care, area agencies on aging, social services, home health care, professionals such as geriatric care managers, elderlaw attorneys and physicians, hospice care, residential care, and Medicare and Medicaid

We can also provide written information by mail and/or can direct you to information on the internet that is specific to your request.

We do not recommend professionals, agencies or facilities. Each individual and family are unique and have different needs and expectations. We discuss guidelines and considerations and will provide a list and/or several possible options.

Our support groups can be very helpful providing caregivers and families with support and information from others who are coping with the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
