People with Memory Loss, Families and Friends

Welcome! Are you interested in information about programs and services available in the National Capital Area (Northern Virginia, suburban Maryland and the District of Columbia)? If so, you are in the right place. If you need information for another part of the country, we would be happy to help you find a local Chapter serving your community.

If you or someone close to you is experiencing memory loss or has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or a related memory disorder, we can offer you valuable help, support, information, and guidance.

Our Helpline provides personalized advice to individuals and families over the phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Safe Return program helps reconnect wandering people with dementia with their caregivers. We also have support groups for both people with dementia and caregivers to connect with those who understand, and caregiver essays to spotlight real-life experiences of caregivers.

For more information about Alzheimer's disease, see the information in our About Alzheimer's section, check out our book recommendations and try the Alzheimer's Association message boards and chat rooms.

To help younger family members understand Alzheimers, see our children's book recommendations and information and advice for teens.

If you don't find what you are looking for, try our site map.

For more information about local services and programs, please telephone the Chapter office: 703-359-4440 or toll-free 1-800-272-3900.
