Nursing homes provide 24 hour nursing care and rehabilitative services for individuals with acute and chronic illnesses. Medicare and Medicaid do cover some care in nursing homes for individuals who meet their criteria, and in homes that participate in these programs. Homes that participate in Medicare are regulated by the Joint Commission on Accreditation for Health Care Organizations (JACHO).
